82mm Hoya Variable Density Filter

The HOYA Variable Density filter is a Variable ND style filter that uses two layers of polarization film and one turns in opposition of the other to achieve the effect of a variable neutral density filter. Optical glass is employed to maintain sharpness.

This filter makes it easy to adjust the brightness of a scene and have more control over the exposure settings of the camera.  The filter reduces light transmittance by approximately 1/3 – 1/400.  This allows a much greater range of shutter speed and aperture values to be set according to the desired effect.

• Filter factor ND3 – ND400
• Approximately 1.5 to 8.5 stops light reduction
• Low profile frame – avoids vignetting on wide-angle lenses. Please note that this filter does NOT have front threads, so it will not accept standard lens caps.
• Rotating ring with scale indicating max. through min. settings

Notes:

The practical exposure range and light transmittance will vary depending on the situation.  When using the filter near or at MIN. a cross-like dark pattern will appear across the image and cannot be eliminated.  This is a property of the structure of the filter.
